A Cappella

A cappella is a form of polyphonic vocal music. The Italian expression means “in the manner of the chapel”. Its defining feature is that it uses human voices alone. This increasingly popular style is demanding to perform and requires a well-trained ear. Listening will make that clear. Here are some examples from around the world that I think you will enjoy.

1. Pentatonix - Can't Hold Us (Macklemore & Ryan Lewis cover)

2. Home Free - Summer in The Country

3. Rockapella - Jailhouse Rock

4. On the Rocks - Bad Romance (Lady Gaga cover)

5. Vocal Majority - When Johnny Comes Marching Home

6. The Swingle Singers - Piazzolla 'Libertango'

7. The Filharmonic - Cheerleader (OMI)

8. The House Jacks – Kashmir

Examples of a cappella groups from Turkey include:

1. SesVerSus

2. Vokaliz

3. Vocca

4. A Capella Boğaziçi is another example.
