How Can You Practise Drums at Home?

Because drums are loud, practising at home can be difficult and may disturb family and neighbours.

How can we practise drums at home?

Start with a practice pad from a music shop. Pads come in sizes such as 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14 inches. Their materials keep the sound low so you can practise with less disturbance. Knee-mounted pads are also available for practice in different places. However, pads do not fully reproduce the feel of a real drum kit.

As your technique develops, you will need a wider practice setup. Consider pad sets arranged like a drum kit. Much cheaper than acoustic or electronic kits, they can remain useful throughout your playing life.
