My Flute Is Difficult to Assemble or Take Apart. What Should I Do?

This is a minor problem that can occur occasionally.

From the start of practice, moisture from your breath condenses inside the instrument. It eventually forms droplets and wets the interior. If you put your flute in its case while still wet, deposits can build up at the joints and make assembly and disassembly harder over time.

In such cases, the original article recommends applying a thin layer of petroleum jelly to the headjoint and body joints, then wiping it off thoroughly with a dry cloth. It also advises cleaning inside the flute and gently twisting the sections apart after cleaning.

Regular cleaning makes these problems less common. I recommend cleaning both inside and outside after each use.
