When Can I Play a Song on the Flute?

It depends on your progress. If everything goes as expected, playing a piece within 6–7 months is certainly possible. This period may be shorter or longer; it depends entirely on you.

What should this process involve?

If you control your breath, produce a clear sound and can read music comfortably, you are ready to play pieces suited to your level. If you struggle for breath and the sound is noisy, the result will not be pleasant to hear and may discourage you. These are the skills you need; the approximate timescale is as described above.
