Do I Have to Upgrade My Flute?

Some instruments need replacing because of wear over many years or a player's physical growth. For example, the violin used by an eight-year-old differs from that of a twenty-year-old. In such cases, replacing the instrument may be appropriate.

If you play as a hobby, a mid-range instrument will be sufficient. If it later feels worn out or you decide you want a higher model, the choice is yours.

There is no such requirement for the flute. You do not have to buy separate beginner, intermediate and advanced instruments in sequence. If your budget allows a higher-range model from a good maker, you can buy it once and use it for a long time.
