How Can I Play Guitar Faster?

Speed on guitar begins with sound technique. Once your technique is correct, you are ready to build speed through regular, focused exercises.

Start with finger exercises, moving from easy to difficult and from slow to fast. Use a metronome so you can increase speed gradually and evenly.

Take a break if your fingers hurt or you become fatigued; do not force yourself to continue through pain. Build strength gradually with regular, controlled practice and adequate rest. Strong fingers combined with good technique support speed, much as a racing car's engine and aerodynamics work together. If pain persists, seek professional advice.
