Legato Technique on Guitar
Legato, also called slurring, is common on classical guitar. It allows several notes to be played without plucking each one with the right hand. Let's look briefly at how it works.
There are two guitar legato techniques: hammering on as the pitch rises and pulling off as it falls. The hammer-on takes its name from striking the string suddenly with a finger. The pull-off releases the finger to sound a lower note. Effective legato needs strong fingers; insufficient strength can produce weak or buzzing notes rather than a clear, firm sound.
Regular exercises can strengthen your fingers for legato. Strong fingers help you produce a clean legato sound on guitar.
