The Importance of Violin Bowing Exercises
Violin beginners practise bowing on open strings. These exercises may feel tedious when you want to play pieces, but they are essential. They help the arm become familiar with every string position and give the bowing hand control. Once you can control the bow clearly without thinking about the left hand and apply a few basic techniques, playing pieces becomes more comfortable. Poor bow control can cause tension and unwanted scratching during string crossings. For a clearer sound and easier playing, be patient and work on bowing before combining note reading and fingerboard use.
