Why a Guitar Goes Out of Tune
As with every instrument, tuning is important for guitar. Here are common reasons it goes out of tune:
1. New strings often go out of tune until they settle. This is normal. Retuning them regularly usually allows the tuning to stabilise within a few days.
2. Worn tuning-machine gears can also prevent the guitar from holding its tuning. In this case, the tuning machines need replacing.
3. If the strings are correctly tuned but the guitar still sounds wrong, the neck setup may need attention. Have a qualified technician assess it.
4. Temperature changes also affect tuning. Retuning usually resolves this. Tuning should be the first thing you do before playing. Enjoy your practice!
