Music Teacher Training Aptitude Examinations, 2018
An earlier article discussed music teaching aptitude exams. This 2018 update looks at the changes introduced at that time.
In this 2018 account, TYT has replaced YGS. The article describes YGS as covering Turkish, mathematics, social sciences and natural sciences, and TYT as asking 40 Turkish and 40 basic mathematics questions. It gives starting thresholds of 150 points for some conservatories and 180 for music teaching, with some education faculties requiring 200 or more. These figures describe the historical article, not current admission requirements.
In the 2018 admissions context described here, a higher TYT score improved an applicant’s chances, and meeting the stated thresholds made them eligible for the aptitude examinations. These historical figures should not be treated as current admission requirements.
A strong performance in the aptitude examination can improve your chances. Starting your preparation for both the TYT and the aptitude test early gives you more time to develop your skills. I wish you all success.
