What Is a Reproduction (Facsimile)?

Reproduction means making an exact copy of a master artist's painting. The original must be analysed carefully: its colours, how they are applied, the arrangement of forms and the composition all matter. The stages of creating the work should be understood. If the artist used a particular technique, take it into account and follow that process when beginning the copy.

Every artwork reflects nature. The objects, beings, forms and colours seen in artworks come from nature. Art is like a mirror held up to it: the artist interprets and conveys what they see. In this sense, a reproduction is a reflection of a reflection of nature.
